After hearing first-hand accounts of children in refugee camps having nothing to play with, and knowing how much comfort stuffed animals bring to her own children, Sarah was inspired to start Dolls of Hope in May of 2016.
The idea was simple: individuals could make handmade dolls and bears, send or drop them off at Dolls of Hope, and Dolls of Hope would send them to organizations serving children in refugee camps. Believing that every child everywhere deserves to have a toy to cherish, in 2017, Dolls of Hope expanded their reach beyond children living in refugee camps to any child in crisis in the United States or around the world. |
Since its inception in June 2016, Dolls of Hope has sent 123, 243 handmade dolls and bears to children in 54 countries. Dolls of Hope has also sent 3,282 Matchbox and wooden cars and thousands of other miscellaneous items like handknit hats, blankets, scrunchies, etc. to children around the world since 2016.
Dolls of Hope is always looking for individuals and groups to sew dolls and bears as well as donate new Matchbox or wooden cars as we are continually sending shipments to children in the U.S. and around the world. If you would like to join Dolls of Hope in our efforts to bring dolls and teddy bears to children around the world, visit the Patterns page and don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram. |
